In a field kitchen deep in the arid desert of the Middle East, a team of nine culinary experts from Fort Bragg experiment with new ways to cook the same, bland food they’ve served for months.
Canned cheese and soggy macaroni had become a sad excuse of a comfort food they’d hoped would remind their fellow soldiers of home. The cooks worked off recipe cards, but tweaked spices and sauces.
Impressed with their ingenuity, celebrity chef Rachael Ray chatted with the soldiers on her daytime television show, sharing tips and promising to send goodies.
