National Guard, about operational tempo, retention and how the Guard responded to the Capitol attack on Jan. 6 on March 25, 2021. The following day, Rep. Nancy Pelosi announced he was her pick for the next House Sergeant-At-Arms. I cut this section for our hour-long chat to use as a tease on social media to link back to the full story on the magazine's website.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is sharing one of America’s most famous symbols of resolve in a rare display to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. The American flags raised by Marines on Mount Suribachi on Feb. 23, 1945, are on display together at the museum through March 30. The flags are normally rotated and displayed individually to reduce exposure to harmful light. (Feb. 2020)
